  • Seeing a resemblance between Thatch’s name and that of the real life pirate known as Blackbeard, Edward Thatch, a fan asked Oda in a SBS question if Thatch was based on the real life Blackbeard along with Edward Newgate and Marshall D. Teach.Oda replied to the fan that he indeed based Thatch’s name on the real life Blackbeard’s. However, the similarity is in name only.
  • Thatch was the only division commander known to be killed before the start of the story line.
  • During the war at Marineford, Whitebeard is seen with only fourteen division commanders, not including Ace, indicating that Thatch had not been replaced.
  • In Episode 476, a statue resembling Thatch can be seen after Hancock’s first attack.
  • Initially in the anime, he was given blonde hair spiking out rather than being arranged in a pompadour, had a white foulard, wore a blue shirt and gray pants with a sword on his right hip.Later in the anime, he was given a different color scheme; his hair was changed to orange brown, his foulard became yellow, and his entire uniform changed to a much lighter blue, with his shirt and pants the same color.

UROUGE THE FALLEN MONK Theory

Urouge is a pirate who hails from a sky island and is the captain of the Fallen Monk Pirates. He is one of twelve pirates who are referred to as “The Worst Generation”
 
Urouge’s name was derived from that of real-life 16th century Barbary pirate, Oruç Reis.

And his epithet “mad monk” is derived from 
Ji Gong 

the guy even has a movie after him

The Mad Monk -Ji Gong (濟公, pinyin: Jì Gōng; The Mad Monk in English) is a 1993 Hong Kong comedy film

Birka 
Birka was a sky island far to the southeast from Skypiea. It is the birthplace of Enel and his followers.

Theory 
Enough of info, now let’s jump into theory. 6 years pior to current storyline Enel and his followers destroyed the homeland called Birka

Birka name is derived from ancient city of moon and there were 3 races of winged people
1.Shandia
2.Skypeians
3.Birka

After their arrival the 1st island they inhabited was Birka sky island. At some point in history, the three races became separated from each other and fell into the individual races. The Birkans settled on a Sky Island apparently named after their former home, Birka. They also appeared to “forget” their origins, although the moon, known to them as the “Fairy Vearth” remained a folk tale amongst their people, believing it to be a place of dreams.

I believe that Urogue was the God of Birka, now hold your horses, God doesn’t mean that he was almighty and powerful as we have seen Gan Fall God of Skypeia, an old man with no powers

Why Urouge was from Birka?
1.Look at his wings its similar ones Enel’s priests had

He dresses in similar robes to Divine Soldiers underneath the khaki robes he wears (which is also worn by the rest of his crew), which includes the white full-bodied garment with severed sleeves

2. Their name, Fallen Monk Pirates
Enel tried to destroy the Skypeia as people living in the sky is unnatural, so as God it is his job to keep the natural order. So we can assume he destroyed his homeland for same reasons ,and monks who survived the fall or escaped the island are Urouge and his followers hence named fallen monks pirates
Notice as divine soldiers and maidens with him and they follow him as their leader same as Gan Fall

3.His fear for lighting -After the war at Marineford, he and his crew go to the New World. They followed their Log Pose to a dark and stormy island that was spewing lightning, with no way to have a ship docking there

4. As captain of White Berets he said some fought Enel and and his followers but were unsuccessful they maybe fallen monk pirates

Scenario 2 :
This is short one, but one of possibilities is inspired by destruction real Birka

After having consistently described Birka as an existing city, Scholia 138 of IV 29 describes Birka’s sudden demise. Talking about Adalvard the Younger, the bishop of Sigtuna and later that of Skara, Adam or a later copyist has written:

“During his journey he seized the opportunity to make a detour to Birka, which is now reduced to loneliness so that one can hardly find vestiges of the city; therefore impossible to come upon the tomb of the holy Archbishop Unni.” (Scholia 138)
The remark does not make it clear if Adalvard found the city destroyed or if that had happened after his visit and the later remark was just to warn the future pilgrims not to go there anymore in vain. As Adalvard was back in Bremen already by 1069 and is mentioned as one of Adam’s sources of information, it would have been expected that word about Birka’s destruction had reached also Adam before he published his work half a decade later.

Urouge and his followers returned home only to find their home wiped out without a trace and hence left for blue sea, i find this unlikely but worthy enough to mention as inspired by real events is one of Oda’s thing

Urouge’s future role 
I believe that winged races (shandia,skypeia and birka) were once allied with Ancient Kingdom
For now Luffy saved both shandia and skypeians from Enel and his followers and took payback for birka ,which Urouge doesn’t know, it’s very similar to Laboon and Brook, Luffy stopped Laboon from damaging himself later, Brook was thankful for that and at some point of time Urouge will ally himself with Luffy similar to shandia and skypeia people
Side note: Urouge might meet Strawhats at Elbaf as the land ruled by God theme is similar to Skypeia

SANJI AND ZORO INCOMING DEVIL FRUIT GREATNESS – Theory

Sanji and Zoro will be getting devil fruits soon

Oda has been foreshadowing these fruits for these powerhouses since Water 7. Zoro was shown to have a slight power of Asura in the fight against Kaku, obviously he didn’t become Asura because his current body doesn’t allow for the full transformation. Sanji in his fight against Jabra unleashed his Diable Jambe, obviously a nod to the devil, also known as Diablo in hispanic culture. Same thing goes, his body could not handle the immense power of Diablo. Oda is known to foreshadow very early in one piece so I believe that these two will be receiving devil fruits, probably during Wano.
The names of these fruits will be Asura Asura no mi and the Diablo Diablo no mi. They will mythical Zoan types. Both of these fruits allowing the users to completely transform into the demons. Their base powers will obviously both be upgraded since they will awaken their fruits full potential during Wano, since they have experience unlocking these powers without the fruit, along with being given immortality. Asura’s are known to have superhuman abilities, along with the extra limbs that Zoro is given in his initial activation of his Asura ability, so there will not be any special abilities besides the increased physical capabilities. There are many theories out there about Zoros eye, with the consumption of the Asura Asura no mi opening his eye will open a gate to the underworld where Zoros opponent will be sent only after they have been weakened a significant amount. Sanji will Receive a buff as well with the consumption of the Diablo Diablo no mi, his physical capabilities will not change as much as Zoro but he will have full control of fire. He will also be able to summon demons from the depths of hell and command them. Every step Sanji takes will melt everything that has the misfortune to touch his feet. (Fun fact: Sanji can also cook faster with this devil fruit)
It is Necessary that these two consume a devil fruit in order to compete in the New World. Luffy is far beyond their skill with his Gear 4th, especially when Gear 5th is on its way as is. Even with that Luffy cannot hope to be King of The Pirates without a solid foundation in his crew to help him fight the Yonko.

Devil Fruits Limitation

This time I want to discuss the universal limitation for Devil Fruit.

As we all know that Devil Fruit users are divided into 3 : Zoan, Paramecia, and Logia. And I speculate that each Devil Fruit has its “limitation” to avoid being overpowered.

I speculate this emphasized on the canonical Devil Fruit; Bara-Bara no Mi. It was once stated that the unit for Buggy’s power is Bara-Bara; and his limitations is 200 Bara-Bara. So within the radius where his feet stand, Buggy can separate and levitate his limbs as he wishes, but outside that radius, his power will be useless.

Previously I speculate about Robin’s Hana-Hana limitations. For those who hasn’t read my speculation on Robin, I will make it simple here. Robin can bloom her limbs anywhere as many as she wishes on any surface; and even recently she can bloom thousands of limbs and even her entire body. But once Oda stated that Robin could bloom“200 Hana Hana”.

Because it was pre timeskip, fans speculate that Robin could sprout max 200 Hana-Hana, and since now Robin can bloom thousands of limbs & her entire body, the 200 Hana Hana doesn’t apply anymore. Actually it still does apply. That’s the maximum radius around Robin’s body where she can bloom her body.

Robin’s height is 188 cm, so approximately her arm’s length is 100 cm/1 meter. 100 x 200 = 20.000. Robin’s Hana Hana can only be effective within 20.000 centimeters or 20 kilometers. Approximately her power will activate 10 kilometers in ball-shaped radius with her real body as the central. So although Robin knows exactly how Alabasta is, she cannot bloom her limbs on Alabasta (as she is currently heading to Wanokuni) because Alabasta is not within her reach of power to be effective.

So I speculate that Luffy as well has 200 Gomu-Gomu where that is the max length he can stretch his body. Luffy can stretch 200 Gomu Gomu away before he can probably feel pain on his outstretched body. To count exactly the same with Robin, Luffy’s 200 Gomu-Gomu is 10 kilometer long.

This 200 Gomu-Gomu will be a reason for Luffy’s final Gear where he can probably expand his entire body into gigantic shape. Note that this final Gear is different with Luffy’s Gear 3rd where in Gear 3rd Luffy could only expand selected body part. Luffy’s final Gear form is probably Great Ape form. As his namesake, Monkey. D. Luffy, probably Luffy’s awakening / final Gear is the Great Ape. It’s also as the dedication to Akira Toriyama as Oda himself is a fan of Dragon Ball.

So from Buggy, Robin, and Luffy, I speculate that Paramecia type unit is 200, added with their Devil Fruit power. For example : Hancock’s Mero Mero no Mi is 200 Mero Mero. Probably Hancock’s Mero Mero will be effective within the radius where people need to see her beauty for her to petrify the object. Or Brook’s Yomi-Yomi no Mi, where he can separate his soul only within 200 Yomi Yomi before he needs his soul to be back to his body.

The unit limitation also applies to non canonical Devil Fruit. For example from One Piece Film: Gold. Gild Tesoro’s Goru-Goru no Mi is 200 Goru-Goru. His ship is 10 kilometers long. That’s where his power can be activated because it’s within his radius. This also applies to Baccarat’s Raki-Raki no Mi; where she probably can absorb luck from 200 people before it is overlimited and could probably backfired.

Some Paramecia has bigger range of the unit; for example Viola’s Giro-Giro or Fujitora’s unknown Devil Fruit. Viola’s Senrigan is 4000 kilometers away, but it’s possible that it’s within her 200 Giro Giro. So she can’t use her power above 4000 kilometers/200 Giro-Giro. Fujitora’s unknown Devil Fruit which control Gravity is probably 200 as well as he needs a certain distance to summon a meteor to fall impact on land.

Now that’s for the Paramecia class. How about Zoan and Logia type? Logia type is indeed the strongest Devil Fruit as it’s the power of nature itself. But of course the power of nature has its limitation. Probably for Logias, they limit is 300. Smoker’s smoke body can be effective within 300 Moku Moku. Sabo / Ace Mera-Mera can burn anything maximum 300 Mera-Mera. Even Akainu’s Magu-Magu; especially Ryusei Kazan; can only be activated within his radius. Although Akainu launches his Magma fists to the air, it can be assured that his fists will fall around his 300 Magu Magu range.

Another possibility is that for Logia users, instead of range, their unit is for how many nature force they can produce / control within their area. Logia users can control nature force of their own to amplify themselves, but of course they have their own limitations as well. So it’s possible that Logia users 300 unit is the maximum element their body can produce / control. This is emphasized on Punk Hazard where the island is complete opposite from each other; and using the full reach of their limit will permanently leave a whole area to be affected with their power.

The maximum production of Logia users can also make them become vulnerable to attacks, although some elements maybe superior to the other. Kuzan and Sakazuki are vulnerable to each other, although in the end Sakazuki is superior to Kuzan’s Hie Hie no Mi that makes Kuzan lost one of his leg; but Kuzan managed to inflict damage to Sakazuki as well. So it’s possible that both Sakazuki & Kuzan used 300 Magu Magu and 300 Hie Hie in their 10 days fight to affect the whole area and left huge damage on both side.

So for Logia, the limitation is another “weakness” to make Logia user not to be overpowered. So probably the Logia user can control the whole island with their element, but once again the limitation is not the range / radius; but the production of elemental nature the user can produce before they overexert themselves and become vulnerable even with common attacks.

As Zoan is the “weakest” Devil Fruit. So probably Zoan Devil Fruit user will have 100 as their unit. Or it can be possible that Zoan is the only Devil Fruit which has no unit as their limitations.

THE CURSED SWORDS OF ONE PIECE; THE SECRETS AND EXPLANATION

I’ve made a few theories that mentioned cursed swords and I’ve had quite the number of people tell me that they don’t fully understand how cursed swords work. In this theory, I shall be discussing the secret of the cursed swords in its entirety. Since I don’t like pointless small talk, I’ll get straight to the point.

In Dressrosa, we’ve learned that all real DFs contained souls.

In Enies Lobby, we learned that objects can “eat” devil fruits. Spandam’s Funkfreed is a sword that has an elephant zoan.
With this, I can safely say that all cursed swords has a soul trapped inside of it. An entity or spirit of sorts that was once human. Souls to DF, DFs to objects, objects to souls.

These entities are either good or bad. Swords with good spirits are divine blades.

Swords with bad spirits are called cursed blades and all cursed swords bring misfortune and the type of misfortune varies from sword to sword.

There is an old saying that swords chooses its owner.

When it comes to cursed swords, they literally choose their owner.

I will be discussing these 3 cursed swords in particular:

Durandal wielded by “Pirate Prince” Cavendish

Kikoku wielded by “Surgeon of Death” Trafalgar Law

Snadai Kitetsu wielded by “Pirate Hunter” Roronoa Zoro

Durandal means “To endure.” Cavendish’s will and mind must endure the spirit of Durandal Hakuba or else he’ll lose himself and become a genocidal psycho.

Hakuba’s cursed entity is about control.

Cavendish constantly has a tug-o-war against Hakuba for control of his mind and body.

Obviously when Cavendish falls asleep, Hakuba takes over but he has shown the ability to take over Cavendish at anytime.

It wasn’t until recently that Hakuba accepted Cavendish to a degree and agreed to only take over his body every once in a while.

Law’s sword means “Demon’s Cry/Wail.” It also means “return to one’ homeland.” What’s makes one cry or wail? What might one feel being away from their homeland? Pain.

Kikoku’s cursed entity is about pain.

Law was the one who got the hurt the most in Punk Hazard and Dressrosa. Ironic since he is a cunning and cautious doctor and doctors are supposed to ease pain.

 

Know what else is associated with pain? Death. Law’s life even before getting the blade was filled with nothing but pain and death. It was very easy for the Kikoku spirit to accept Law and its the reason Law has those death tattoos on his fingers.

The blade will also affect Law’s spirit. Being a ‘D’, Law will undoubtedly unlock CoC and the Kikoku will make Law’s spirit very dark and sinister, muck like the “Dark King” Rayleigh.

The one everyone was waiting for probably.

The most popular belief is that the Sandai Kitetsu curse is Asura.

That is not the case. Asura and the Sandai Kitetsu are different. Zoro always had an asura demon spirit.

Lets look at what an Asura spirit is.

While all the gods of the Kāmadhātu are subject to the passions to some degree, the Asuras above all of them have become addicted to them, especially wrath, pride, envy, insincerity, falseness, boasting, and bellicosity.Because of their passions, rebirth as an Asura is considered to be one of the four unhappy births (together with rebirth as an animal, a preta, or a being in Naraka). The state of an Asura reflects the mental state of a human being obsessed with ego, force and violence, always looking for an excuse to get into a fight, angry with everyone and unable to maintain calm or solve problems peacefully.Beings may go to the Asura realm because in human form they had good intentions, but committed bad actions such as harming others.Some asuric deities commonly used curved swords and control flames.

Sounds eerily similar to Zoro right? Zoro stands above normal humans but is currently below a god(Mihawk). A pretty normal human who caused harm to lots of people and was pretty “reborn” as an Asura. Even as a child, Zoro was eerily similar to an Asura.

Asura is Zoro’s spirit manifesting itself in physical form. His untapped CoC in physical to be exact.

Even though Zoro is an asura demon, he always kept his humanity.Ever since Zoro got the Sandai Kitetsu, Zoro began to slowly lose it and got more n’ more demonic as time went on.

In Skypia, Zoro was attacked by a random monk with a spear. Zoro took him out by smashing the monk’s face with his sword hilt.

Fast forward to Sabody, Zoro was attacked by a random Tenryubitto(he had no idea who the CD was). Instead of trying to knock him out, Zoro tried to mercilessly kill the guy. Just look at Zoro’s face.

Zoro let off so much killing intent that even Apoo, who isn’t a swordsman, felt it.

A drastic change in actions no?

Back in Enies Lobby, Zoro’s spirit could be felt by Kaku

Everyone is calling Zoro’s spirit beast-like. Why is that? It isn’t because of his asura spirit(mostly at least).

It because of the Sandai Kitetsu.

Sandai Kitetsu means “Third generation demon cutter.” It is the weakest of the 3 demon cutters.

The curse of Sandai Kitetsu(all kitetsus) is that all of its owners die.

In the scan above, you can see that the previous owners died from calling off cliffs, being eaten alive, burning alive etc.. Despite all those tragedies,the Sandai Kitetsu remains intact.

The Sandai Kitetsu took over its wielders to made them kill themselves, as the blade did not accept them as its owner.

The Sandai Kitetsu never tried to get Zoro to kill himself because not only does Zoro have a very strong spirit, the Sandai Kitetsu accepted Zoro as its owner.

With just one look, Zoro automatically knew that the Sandai was a cursed sword and he even said that he liked it.

The main reason the Sandai accepted Zoro is because Zoro and the Sandai spirit are similar but lets back track a little bit. Remember when I said that Zoro has his humanity despite being an Asura demon? Remember when I said how Zoro is getting more merciless as time goes on?

The Curse of the Sandai Kitetsu spirit is bloodlust and it is leading Zoro down the “Path of the Demon.”

The “Path of the Demon” is a path where a person sacrifices his humanity and lives for nothing but combat, blood and chaos. He literally becomes a beast going down this path. That’s why people can sense Zoro’s bloodlusted spirit and calls him a beast.

Zoro thought he overcame the curse but it was pure luck that his arm didn’t get cut off.

Zoro will find out about the curse in Wano and will go through its villages to learn how to dominate it. Zoro may succeed, but he may lose control of his demon spirit when he gets his hands on the Nidai Kitetsu.

Robin’s Flowers

Do you remember the Rumbar Pirates?

The Rumbar Pirates are a long dead pirate crew from the West Blue. They were first mentioned by Crocus as the group of pirates who brought Laboon to the Twin Capes.

The crew’s strength took them far into the Grand Line, however they met their end upon entering into the Florian Triangle. It is unknown who killed them, only that they died fighting an enemy they could not win against. As pirates, they were all prepared to die anytime, and as such, did not fear death. They only regretted that they must die before reuniting with Laboon.

Also it seems that many of them are very good at playing musical instruments. Brook even claims he can play all kinds of instruments, showing the ability to play at least violin, piano and guitar.

Furthermore, their sole surviving member (of sorts), Brook, was skilled enough to terrorize Thriller Bark along with its many undead inhabitants all on his own.

The name of the crew appears to be a combination of two similar words in a pun. The first term, “Rumba”, refers to a family of music rhythms and dance styles that originated in Africa. The second term, “Lumbar”, is a section of the body around the abdomen, known for the bones and spinal cord that exist there as part of the skeletal system. Due to the love of the music by the crew as well as due to Brook himself (whose skeleton, including his lumbar bones, are exposed due to the affect of the Yomi Yomi no Mi), it is presumed the two words were combined to define the name of the crew.

Despite being wiped out for about half-a-century, the Marines kept track of the crew’s information, as they managed to trace Brook’s connections based on the past bounty poster.

ROBIN’S HANA HANA LIMITATIONS

” Power… Speed… They
mean nothing to me…”As we all know that Robin’s Hana Hana is one of the most powerful & efficient Paramecia Devil Fruit. But once, Oda (jokingly) stated that Robin could sprout “200 Hana Hana”. Many fans speculate that because of this joke was revealed pre-timeskip, pre-timeskip Robin could only sprout max 200 hana-hana and it doesn’t apply to current Robin. But in my speculation, it didn’t mean like that.

Hana-Hana referred to the length of an arm. Robin’s height is 188 cm. her arm length is approximately 100 centimeters / 1 meter. So to calculate simply : 100 x 200 = 20.000. 20 kilometers. That’s the radius of Robin’s power. To put simply and not making her over powered, the radius is 10 kilometers in round-shape radius around her vicinity.


So as long as she has her radius, she can apply as many limbs as she wishes in “200 hana-hana away.” This speculation is further emphasized by Buggy’s 200 bara-bara. In radius of Buggy’s legs on land, he can separate & levitate his body in exact radius for his power to be effective.

So it means although that Robin can sprout limbs in designated area as she wishes, she cannot sprout her limbs outside 200 hana-hana radius. To put simply for example: Robin can sprout half of her body in quite a distance to inform Law, but that’s because Dressrosa island is probably less than 10 km width. Robin definitely know exactly Alabasta, but of course she can’t sprout her limbs on Alabasta because it’s not within her radius of Hana-Hana.

So as long as it’s within the radius of 200 Hana-Hana, Robin can sprout even thousands of limbs and her entire body in the Hana-Hana radius. Not to mention that Robin needs to know the object / place her body need to be sprouted; as it was once with the South Bird where she needs to see one to catch a South Bird; because if she doesn’t know the exact object where she will sprout her limbs, she can’t sprout her body. That’s why Robin can probably have photographic memory as well, because when she sprouted half of her body to appear beside Law, she needed to memorized the Green Bit area.

And of course it explains Robin’s “limitations”, because if she can sprout her limbs on any surface as she wants without the limited radius, she will be overpowered. Not just Robin, but probably Luffy has 200 Gomu-Gomu away where he can elongate his body on a max length. This 200 Hana-Hana is another “weakness” of Robin’s power to make her less overpowered, as “power and speed mean nothing to her.”

And there is a question why Robin can sprout her limbs on organic matter (like on human body), but she can’t sprout her limbs inside an enemy’s body. The logical reason is probably because as Robin’s power is Hana-Hana, an enemy’s inside body doesn’t have enough room for her limbs to grow. Another reason is because although at first Robin’s specialty is assassination, after she joins the Straw Hat Pirates, she omitted assassination as her specialty probably because it is considered too brutal & against the crew’s moral code to kill someone.

This could be possible that in the future, Straw Hat Pirates will probably have a messenger as well, the way how Black Beard’s Laffitte is also a messenger. This messenger will connect between the Straw Hat grand fleet, because Robin can’t sprout herself more than 200 hana-hana away. So the same like Laffitte, this messenger will have the ability to fly as well & easily infiltrate any place.*Theory by DevilChild93
